Wheel Of Time 1
2022
Somewhere between waking and the first moment of sleep, there is a place where we have all been performers. This painting knows that space intimately. The dogs leap through air that doesn't quite believe in gravity, their white bodies impossibly elongated, impossibly free—and we remember what it felt like to trust the wire beneath us, or to dream we could. Around the edges, the watchers gather. Their faces blur not from distance but from the particular softness of memory, the way an audience from childhood becomes a feeling rather than a collection of individuals. Who are we in this scene? Are we walking the diagonal, balanced between the luminous unknown below and the chaotic warmth above? Or have we already fallen, and this is the moment playing back, slowed and tinted with forgiveness? The silver-white expanse at center holds nothing and everything—the space before the act, the breath before the note, the page before the word. The circus comes to town, and we understand it was never about entertainment. It was always about the fundamental human question: can we cross from here to there without falling, and if we fall, will anyone be watching?
