Wheels of Time Music
2016
Somewhere beneath the earth, where tree roots twist into cathedral arches and the soil still remembers fire, a gathering has formed. They have been playing for centuries, perhaps—these musicians who emerged from clay and pigment, who breathe through brass and gut-string, whose bodies blur into the ochre ground from which they rose. The horn player on the left has forgotten where his instrument ends and his devotion begins. The trumpeter releases notes that climb the root-tangled walls like smoke signals to a surface world that has long since forgotten this subterranean chapel exists. And the guitarist, small and determined, plays a melody older than written notation—something passed down through the minerals themselves. Watch the observers who ring this impossible concert: silent witnesses with faces half-formed, emerging from shadow to confirm that this music is real, that it matters, that somewhere deep in the human psyche there exists a burning room where rhythm never stops. The heat you feel looking at this painting is not from its palette alone. It is the warmth of recognition—that ancient understanding that music is how we stay connected to something eternal, something that glows beneath every calculated surface of modern life.
